Overview:
MinEx CRC research is delivering new insights into mineralogical processes relevant to ore deposit formation and tectonics through an argon geochronology research program, including through a dedicated MinEx CRC Opportunity Fund Project with case studies across the continent. Results from these case studies will be detailed, as well as outlining the power of the methodology for the assessment of features such as paleo depth, or timing the movement of major faults and shear zones by dating breccias and/or mylonites.
This workshop will cover both the basics of the technique as well as advanced levels of data collection, interrogation and interpretation and will leave participants with a fuller understanding of the power of the technique for characterising mineral systems. Case studies will illustrate the impact and significance of the results obtained.
Key topics to be explored include:
The workshop will be presented by Anthony Reid (GSSA), Dave Kelsey (GSWA), Marnie Forster (ANU) and Gordon Lister (The Virtual Explorer)
The workshop is recommended for anyone working with NDI drill hole datasets or with samples that need to be placed in a regional context.
No previous argon geochronology experience is required.
To meet its vision, it is a requirement for MinEx CRC to exchange research and development ideas across broad disciplines with a range of people of diverse views through open and respectful dialogue at face-to-face and online meetings, conferences, and field and drilling activities. MinEx CRC is committed to an ethos of equal opportunity and fair treatment of all those associated with MinEx CRC-related activities, regardless of diversity.
It is the responsibility of all those associated with MinEx CRC to ensure that a collegiate, inclusive and encouraging atmosphere is maintained when undertaking the work of the CRC. MinEx CRC considers the rich diversity of those involved in the CRC as a resource that should be drawn upon.
We ask that all attendees familiarise themselves with the MinEx CRC Code of Conduct.
