PROJECT SUMMARY
Project 2 comprises the essential modules to develop Coiled Tubing (CT) drilling to the point where it is suitable for the discovery and definition of mineral deposits (including brownfields, resource definition drilling and greenfields drilling to depths of >500 m).
The DET CRC developed a CT Rig for greenfields mineral exploration, delivering a platform for low-cost, rapid, safe and environmentally friendly drilling, meeting key technical challenges of coil durability, drilling hard rocks with low weight-on-bit and sample fidelity.
In this project we are delivering additional capability to CT drilling platform, which will enable it to access a significant share of the drilling market. This includes improved sample integrity, accurate location of the drill bit, steering and increasing the reach of drilling to 1000 m.
