It is with deep sadness that we announce the sudden passing of MinEx Board member and friend John Emerson.

John died suddenly on Friday night from a heart attack.

John had a long and distinguished career in the drilling industry in the global exploration sector. His career included working for WMC Resources between 1970-2004, Boart Longyear 2005-2007 and BHP Billiton 2007-2014. Since 2014 John operated his own successful consultancy.

John freely shared his experience and skills to influence many aspects of the drilling industry and will be remembered for his energetic commitment.

John was a much-loved mentor, coach and teacher whose legacy is visible throughout the industry.

Above all this, John was a true gentleman. His kind heart and sense of humour will be missed by all of us.
