We’re excited to welcome Newmont Corporation as a new major sponsor of MinEx CRC. Newmont will contribute to our Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) project, led by Jessica Stromberg (CSIRO).

MinEx CRC’s Project 3 team are developing an advanced downhole LIBS tool featuring a high-powered, variable-focus laser, precision optics, and spectrometers capable of detecting every element on the periodic table down to parts-per-million levels.

This prototype is designed to fit within NQ-diameter boreholes and is deployable via wireline.
