On Monday 4 May, industry representatives from across the mineral exploration and mining sector came together for the MiNext Industry Workshop to explore future opportunities, challenges and priorities shaping the industry.
The workshop featured a series of roundtable discussions designed to encourage open and constructive conversations around innovation, collaboration and long-term industry needs.
Several consistent themes emerged throughout the discussions, including the importance of better connecting current operational realities with future innovation pathways, particularly in areas relating to data and artificial intelligence.
Participants also highlighted the opportunity to move beyond identifying known challenges and toward more coordinated action to address them collaboratively across industry and research sectors.
Discussions further reinforced that while there is strong interest in shaping the future direction of exploration innovation, a clear overarching narrative and distinct focus area for future work is still emerging.
Insights gathered during the workshop will help inform the next phase of MiNext discussions, with engagement set to continue at the upcoming MiNext Researchers Workshop on 10 June in Perth.
MinEx CRC thanks all participants for contributing their time, expertise and perspectives to the discussion.
