Significant progress in understanding the northern Gawler Craton is expected over the next six months, as new analysis becomes available from the National Drilling Initiative (NDI) led by the Geological Survey of South Australia (GSSA) and MinEx CRC.

Preliminary rock chip and core data are already accessible via the NDI Northern Gawler Dashboard. More advanced results—including HyLogger data, SHRIMP U-Pb geochronology, and Nd isotope studies—are expected by the end of 2025.

Research is also focusing on metamorphic rocks from drill holes in a major shear zone between Mabel Creek Ridge and the Nawa Domain. Additionally, GSSA is conducting geochronology and solid geology studies in the Nawa Domain, under the leadership of Senior Geologist Jack Percival, as part of the South Australia Discovery Mapping project.
