Researchers gathered in-person on Wednesday 10 June 2026 for the MiNext Researcher Workshop , contributing their expertise and perspectives to discussions on the future of collaborative minerals research and innovation in Australia.

The workshop formed the third forum in the MiNext workshop series, following earlier sessions with representatives from Geological Surveys and Industry. Together, these workshops have been designed to capture a broad range of views and help inform future directions for collaborative, industry-led minerals research.

Through a series of facilitated discussions, participants reflected on the strengths of the MinEx CRC model and considered where future opportunities may exist to deliver value for industry, government and the broader resources sector.

Several themes emerged throughout the day including data science with enhanced processing, and compressing timelines for translating exploration success to resource extraction.

The workshop provided an important opportunity to capture the research community’s perspectives as discussions continue around the next phase of collaborative minerals research in Australia.

MinEx CRC would like to thank all researchers who participated and contributed their insights. The ideas and feedback gathered across the Geological Survey, Industry and Researcher workshops will help inform ongoing MiNext discussions and future opportunities for collaboration within the minerals sector.
