Congratulations to Jessica Stromberg Stromberg (CSIRO) and the Project 3 team on the successful completion of the second Laser-Induced Breakdown Spectroscopy (LIBS) field trial, held last month at the Australian Automation and Robotics Precinct (AARP). The trial drew strong interest from industry representatives from Newmont Corporation, Fortescue, and Rio Tinto, who attended site to explore the latest advancements in LIBS technology and its real-world applications
Key highlights included the successful field validation of the redesigned optical front end (updated based on feedback from last year’s trial), major upgrades, including enhancements to the camera system, improved back-end connectivity, and greater ruggedisation to withstand field conditions.
Data was collected from multiple drill holes, with a variety of deployment parameters tested to optimise tool performance.
We are actively pursuing field deployment opportunities in collaboration with our industry partners.
