This publication explores new methods for mapping the seafloor beneath ice shelves in Vincennes Bay, East Antarctica — a region highly vulnerable to melting from warm ocean water. Using an open-source gravity inversion platform, combined with airborne gravity data and other datasets, the study produced a more accurate map of sub-ice-shelf bathymetry. The results revealed both known and previously undiscovered deep troughs, with ocean modelling showing these features significantly increase melt rates.
