MinEx CRC was proud to see such strong representation from our staff, members, postgraduate students, sponsors and partner organisations at the Australian Earth Sciences Convention (AESC 2026), held in Melbourne, with wide participation across the scientific program through presentations, posters and sponsorship.

AESC 2026 theme “Geosciences: Solutions for the Future” highlighted the essential role of Earth sciences in tackling society’s most pressing challenges – supporting the energy transition and critical minerals supply, harnessing Big Data and AI, strengthening food and water security, and enabling meaningful collaboration across academia, government and industry.

A large number of MinEx affiliated researchers and postgraduate students contributed to the conference, showcasing the depth and diversity of our collaborative research. Their contributions reflect MinEx CRC’s commitment to developing future leaders while delivering research with real world impact.

We also acknowledge the strong support of MinEx affiliated organisations across the conference:
BHP – Platinum Sponsor
AuScope – Silver Sponsor
Geological Survey of South Australia – Session Sponsor
CSIRO – Theme Sponsor

MinEx CRC colleagues and affiliates were represented across state and national geological surveys, including Geological Survey of South Australia, Geological Survey of Western Australia, Geological Survey of Victoria, Geological Survey of New South Wales and Geological Survey of Queensland, as well as Geoscience Australia, and partner universities and research institutes including Adelaide University, Curtin University, Monash University, University of New South Wales and CSIRO.

The achievements recognised and research shared at AESC 2026 demonstrate the strength and collegiality of Australia’s Earth sciences community, and the value created through collaboration across institutions, sectors and career stages.

Thank you to everyone who attended, presented and supported MinEx CRC at AESC2026, and to our partners and sponsors whose continued collaboration makes this work possible.
