MinEx CRC’s 2025 Year in Review is now available, capturing key developments and outcomes delivered across all three research programs.

The report highlights major advancements in drilling optimisation, downhole sensing, coiled tubing systems, seismic acquisition and automated geological modelling.

2025 technical and program highlights include:

  • 96% of Phase 2 milestones completed (451 of 469), with 18 now progressed to Phase 3.
  • 3 prototype drilling automation platforms developed: Fluid Automation, Auto Drill RC and Auto Drill Diamond.
  • 220 metres logged using the prototype downhole LIBS assay tool, supported by a new patent application.
  • CT1000 rig upgraded and tested to 1,000 m depth ahead of steerable drilling trials.
  • Four FDEM prototypes built and tested, generating high-resolution conductivity logs.
  • 26,000+ metres drilled in Wassara BHA curved-drilling trials.
  • 2 field trials of the Frequency Domain EM tool at Curtin and Kojonup.
  • Five Loop 3D modelling modules released as QGIS plugins.
  • Six commercial licences executed since 2024.
  • 21 peer-reviewed publications and 6 research outcome videos released, with MinEx CRC TV now exceeding 15K+ views.
  • 35 active postgraduate students and 20 total completions to date.
