Whole rock inorganic geochemical data for basement rocks in the East Tennant region of the Northern Territory have been released at the Northern Territory Geological Survey’s Annual Geoscience Exploration Seminar.

In collaboration with Geoscience Australia and the Northern Territory Geological Survey, the ten East Tennant boreholes were drilled as part of MinEx CRC’s first National Drilling Initiative campaign in late 2020.

A total of 402 samples were analysed to establish bulk rock geochemical compositions for further interpretation, understand geochemical variability, and constrain the distribution of elements important for mineral system characterisation, including Au, Cu, Pb, and Zn. The data complement other information acquired on the East Tennant boreholes, including new geochronology, geological and geophysical data.

The new geochemical data can be accessed through Geoscience Australia East Tennant data portal.
