MinEx CRC congratulates Alisya Syed on receiving the Best Poster Award at the 2026 Mines and Wines (Discoveries in the Tasmanides) conference in Orange, New South Wales.

At the conference, Alisya presented preliminary results from her PhD research in a mini-talk and presented her first academic poster.

Alisya’s PhD project, Geochemical Tools for Ore Exploration: Investigating Resistance Phase Minerals Chemistry in the Cobar Basin, investigates how resistate minerals such as monazite, zircon and rutile can preserve geochemical signatures that may help identify mineralisation and extend the footprint of mineral systems beneath cover.

The Cobar Basin is an important study area for MinEx CRC research, with Alisya’s work contributing to the development of geochemical tools for mineral exploration in covered terrains.

Congratulations to Alisya on this achievement, and on representing MinEx CRC at Mines and Wines!
