MinEx CRC is pleased to share the exciting news that Andrés Sifuentes Chamochumbi (Adelaide University) has formally qualified for his PhD thesis titled:

‘Impacts of technology on social acceptance in the context of mineral exploration’.

Andrés was supervised by Caroline Tiddy, Vicki Waye, Adam Simpson, Jennifer McKay (all Adelaide University) and Benjamin Zammit (Department for Energy and Mining, South Australia).

Andrés’ project investigated how emerging mineral exploration technologies can influence social acceptance in Australian communities. The research is focussed on MinEx CRC’s RoXplorer® coiled tubing drill rig, and uses the historical mining town of Kapunda, South Australia, as a case study area. Kapunda was also a location of a RoXplorer® drill rig test deployment prior to this study.

Andrés’ research demonstrates that social acceptance is a dynamic, place-based relational process commencing long before exploration activities commence.

A big congratulations to Dr Sifuentes Chamochumbi and his supervisory team!
