Our MinEx CRC Publication Spotlight showcases peer-reviewed and publicly available scientific publications arising from research across the CRC.

This spotlight features a new research paper exploring MyLogger, a web-based workflow developed to support rapid, automated first-pass geological logging from HyLogger hyperspectral data.

HyLogger scanning provides valuable information about the mineralogy of drill core, but extracting useful geological information from hyperspectral data can require specialised expertise and software. The research addresses this challenge by using mineral groups derived from HyLogger data to generate geological logs at different spatial scales.

The work was supported through MinEx CRC Opportunity Fund project OP9: Fast Logging with HyLogger Data, which aimed to develop a workflow for rapid first-pass logging of HyLogger data. The resulting MyLogger workflow can help users identify areas of interest, determine where expert analysis may be worthwhile, and focus more detailed sampling and analysis.

The paper, “MyLogger: fast logging with HyLogger spectral mineralogy”, includes research by CSIRO researchers Jessica Stromberg, Carsten Laukamp, June Hill and Andrew Rodger.

The project demonstrates how the MinEx CRC Opportunity Fund has supported research that builds on existing datasets and develops practical tools to make exploration data more accessible and useful.
