Congratulations to MinEx CRC Research Jeremie Giraud, recipient of an Incoming European Grant for his Geomos Project.

The GeoMos project (Development of a Method for the Exploration of Joint Geology-Geophysics Model-Space) was funded by the Marie Sklodowska-Curie European Fellowship action of Horizon 2020, supported by the European Commission. Jérémie Giraud, a post-doc researcher at the University of Western Australia (Perth), is the winner of this competitive grant which will allow him to develop his research project at the University of Lorraine, France, within the GeoRessources laboratory for 24 months.

Jérémie’s project proposes the development of modelling techniques combining geophysics, geology, and petrophysics. The objective of GeoMos is to find the characteristics of deep geological objects such as a geothermal reservoir or a mining system and explore the different scenarios explaining the observed data and calculate their uncertainty. The methods developed will have to simultaneously model geological field data, such as measurements of a surface fault, and related geophysical anomalies, such as the disturbance of the gravity field that can be measured.

Jeremie will collaborate with the international consortia Loop and MinEx CRC based in Australia, where he obtained his PhD thesis. He finished his post-doc at the “Center for Exploration Targeting” (University of Western Australia, Perth) in May 2021 before starting his GeoMos project at the University of Lorraine with Prof. Guillaume Caumon and A/Prof. Paul Cupillard within the RING team at GeoRessources.
